Avoid the touristy bustle of the west and embrace the peaceful serenity of the stunning East MacDonnell Ranges on this very relaxing day tour.

Our first stop just outside Alice Springs is beautiful Emily Gap. The ideal time to view her glowing cliffs is in this perfect, early morning light. We then head down the track to stroll around majestic Corroboree Rock; an impressive limestone and dolorite formation traditionally visited only by Aboriginal men.

Then off to explore the stunning quartzite cliffs of Trephina Gorge, perhaps dropping in to hug the giant Ghost Gum along the way. The gorge itself offers a 2km, moderately challenging circuit hike along the ridge top with incredible views, as well as an alternate, shorter stroll up the sandy river bed between the towering cliffs of the gorge. The vast expanse of Trephina Creek's sandy river bed is the perfect spot to lie down for a spell and soak up the peaceful surrounds, or make sand angels while searching for faces of the ancient ancestors in the rocky outcrops towering perilously above.

After a delicious lunch in the open air, you can sit back and enjoy the scenic drive back to Alice Springs via pretty little Jessie Gap. Here the bird life is usually quite entertaining, and the afternoon light casts shadows of the river red gums over the white sand, making it the perfect time of day to visit.
